It’s typical for a new technology to be adapted within a culture and used to support existing patterns of behavior

Critical Reflection

What kind of culture influences through technology can I see from today’s world? And Is there a possibility to reshape the (new) culture today via new technology, How?

Changing learning medium with new medium. Usually students bring their books to class but nowadays they bring electronic stuff such as notebooks, iphone, and other medium that can be replace books so they can go to class less weight. Others than that, in communication, people start using webcam to communincate with their family or friends at overseas without seeing them face to face. Futhermore, like mails, people has replace it with e-mail because mails takes time for the receiver to get the mails. Also, nowadays people has their own computer and mostly with internet at home but still there is a mail's user out there went it is a celebration days.

Communicating with others
whether they are close or far, it has become much easier. Though we can't meet them in person, at least we are able to maintain our relationship with others.

Example of new learning medium and communication medium

How to relate the information given in the documentary to the theory of Media Imperialism that has been talked about in lecture?

Critical Reflection:

Someone manipulating the media to affect people to do something that he or she wanted them to do also known as Media Imperialism. The power is so terrified and it can only cause chaos if they misused it. Media imperialism also apply in the government conspiracy. Many kind of dirty tricks being used by the politician to pull an action. For example in the documentary video “The Power of Nightmares (Part 3 - Shadow in the Cave)" George Bush blindly takes action on the people who that he assume to be terrorist to be caught. It is all about one thought then he deliver the media imperialism to make his plan become true but it is not actually. The news also has been manipulated by the government for example the tragedies of September 11 the media told the world that terrorist did the plane crash but after that there is many doubt about the explosion some says it was government secret plan. This is how the media imperialism acts pretty much as mind control and it has the power to control the world.

Personal Reflection:

It’s really an interesting topic on this week lecture because I learned the ‘real’ politics from it after the lecturer show the video.

Tetrad of Media

Critical Reflection

By using McLuhan "Tetrad of Media" theory, as I choose television as a medium, it shows visual or graphic on the screen and delivers sound through their speakers. Through obsolesces, television reduces the importance of printing. What is retrieved is be in a relationship with view of man. The reverse of television, it becomes or returns to is the global theater, where people are actors on a stage and need only one witness the event status of an airplane crash or weather disaster.

Personal Reflection

The information deliver and explanation of it by the lecturer is quite good for student to understand....

What media stereotype is?

What is media stereotype?

The needs a huge group of audience to understand the information quickly through advertising, entertainment, and news that can’t be avoid. Making a group of people understand on others by relating their class, races, gender and, occupation. The bad is, it can make people not open minded, try to wake up and show people what reality is and be used to justify people by their position in power.

From personal experience

That's So Raven

Other media stereotype that I’ve seen is drama series at Disney channel called That’s So Raven. In the drama series, they try to convince the audience that English people are stupid and also similar to another drama series named Cory in The House.

Do you often take what is on the Internet as truth without thinking much about it?

Critical Reflection on Social Media

Some web site in the internet makes me hard to believe because the information in that site could be taken from other site and rewrite it for own personal benefit and makes the reader thinks twice. Others, like this picture below, the reader who is a boy ,20 years old and above, that surf the internet where he didn't know that the web being publish by a small child about an age of 12 to 14 years old and so. But the his father didn't believe it at all just because the information come from the internet. Still, the boy trust the information because of the title of the site.

Personal Reflection on Social Media

Media Culture Tutorial class had been done through online and makes the student felt happy because there a lot of time to spend on that day. So, the student should do the tutorial early or where there is nothing to do. For those who wanted to do the tutorial in the last minute, they could be forgotten about it because they busy doing other subject such as design fundamental in the last minute or maybe busy playing online game.
